PRODUCT APPLICATIONS:
Long run offset printing.
EXPOSURE GUIDE:
Use a high intensity UV light
source. The exposure time will vary according to the
distance and wattage of the light bulb. Using an IBF
21 Plate Scale, expose the plate to a clear step 3.
Using a 2,000 watt light bulb at 31" (80cm) from the
plate, expose for about 40 seconds. Insufficient exposure
can create lack of details.
PROCESSING:
MANUAL PROCESSING:
Pour and spread IBF Positive Developer
over the pad (approximately 1 oz/sq ft) using a developing
pad, cellulose sponge or a cotton wipe pad. Spread with
slight pressure in a circular motion, distributing the
developer evenly over the plate.
Squeegee the excess developer from the plate and
pad. Repeat again the same developing steps in order
to ensure a perfectly clean plate. Wash thoroughly under
running water.
AUTOMATIC PROCESSING:
IBF positive plates can be easily
processed on the various automatic processor models
available.
TRAY DEVELOPMENT:
IBF positive plates can be tray
or tank developed by leaving them immersed in the developer
at 70ºF/21ºC for 30 seconds.
Wash thoroughly under running water.
DELETIONS:
Apply IBF positive Corrector on
the areas to be removed on the dry plate using a brush
or a cotton swab. Wash with running water and squeegee
the excess off the plate and apply the IBF positive
Developer.
FINISHING:
Use IBF Subtractive Finisher,
pour very little on the plate and spread with a damp
sponge. If the plate is to be used immediately, it will
not be necessary to apply the Finisher.
BAKING:
In case the IBF positive plate
needs to be baked, in order to increase the length of
the run, the following precautions should be taken:
Using a dry IBF positive plate not inked or gummed,
apply IBF Baking Solution with a sponge over the entire
plate; remove the excess;
Bake the plate for 4 to 5 minutes at 446ºF/230ºC; after
baking, develop the plate again.
FOUNTAIN SOLUTION:
We suggest the dampening system
to be maintained between 4,5 and 5,5 pH for sheet-fed
printing and 8,3 pH for web printing, using IBF Fountain
Solution. The conductivity should be between 1200 -
1500 micro ohms.
